Getting Down to the Pointy End

It's only four weeks till we go now and the list of things to get done is getting shorter.  I don't want to say that we're in a good place, cause that would put the "mozz" on us, but........... we're in a good place!

Doug has worked hard at get things done on the camper and car.  To give us extra storage, he's built "the coffin" to put in place in the back, where the second row of seats normally sit.  We should be able to fit lots in here.

Yesterday saw the change over of the wheels and tyres and the roof rack went on.  I'm glad we didn't leave it till the weekend before, as there was a lot of huffing and puffing, and not a small amount of swear words.  But it's done now, and the car is starting the look the part of an outback tourer.

The camper hasn't been neglected either, with a new set of brakes and bearings recently done, a new water pump and a new fan for the fridge.  It will be interesting to see how the three-way fridge copes with the high temperatures and humidity of the north.

Not all the work has been happening in the garage either.  Anyone who knows me well will know I am the Queen of Lists, and my lists have been going for several months now.  In fact, I've got lists of my lists.  And don't start on spreadsheets - my trip spreadsheet is a thing of beauty (at least to me it is).  I do accept the fact that I might be a bit of a control freak, but at least we'll be prepared...........

Our spare bedroom has become ground control, with things getting put in there as I think of them.  Food, clothes and just general stuff has been piling up in there for weeks.  I'll have to get it sorted quickly if our son Matt and his partner Nat are going to have anywhere to sleep when they move in.

We've still got four weeks of work to go.  Hard in two ways - because we've both got a lot on at work before disappearing for four months, and also because we're just dying to get on the road now.  The four weeks will fly by I'm sure, and in the mean time, I've got my lists!!!
