Recipes on the Road

I love cooking!  I love cooking and I love food.  I love old fashioned, traditional recipes that my mum used to make and I love trying new things.  I'm forever saving links to recipes that I find online (I used to clip the recipes out of magazines and stick them in a book, but that's no long feasible while I'm travelling).

My thoughts here are to post recipes that I find and try (with due credit to their source) in the hope that you may find them helpful as well.  Equally, if you have any that you'd like to add to the page, please put them in a comment and I'll include them (again with due credit to the source).

Let's see how we go.

Lemonade Scones (from Mish Bailey on "The Station Cooks Brain Trust" FB page

4 cups SF flour
300ml thickened cream
1 cup of small can of lemonade (7Up, soda water - 250300ml) - I've actually used ginger beer which worked really well

Method
1. Add SR flour to a bowl and make a well in the middle.  Add cream and lemonade.
2. Mix until just combined to make a dough.  Roll or press out on a floured surface until no more tha 2cm thick.
3. Cut out with a glass or cutter (or cut into squares) and brush with milk once settled on tray.
4. Bake at 180 degrees for approximately 20 minutes or until golden.  They should sound hollow when you tap the bottom.
5. Serve with jam and cream (or whatever your fancy) and enjoy.
